Arthur
D. Herman
A resident of Long Island, Mr. Herman received his Bachelor of
Arts degree from Adelphi University in Garden City Long Island.
He has been a Trustee of the Stony Brook Foundation for over 20
years. Mr. Herman started A.D. Herman Construction Co. in 1958
and completed projects on campus such as the Fine Arts Center
and the Incubator Building. The firm also worked on the Graduate
Chemistry Building and the Health Science Center. He serves on
the Corporate Advisory Board of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
where his firm built the Grace Auditorium, the Neuroscience Laboratory,
and Dolan Hall.
A.D. Herman Construction also constructed projects at Hofstra
University, Adelphi University, C.W. Post, and the Don Monti Pavilion
at North Shore Hospital.
He has served as President of The Building Trades Employers Association
of Long Island, the Long Island Building Congress, The Association
of General Contractors of America, and the Real Estate Board of
the City of NY. Mr. Herman now heads Herman Development Corporation
which primarily develops and manages properties for his own portfolio.
