Funding from Congress for the Human Genome Project, Ari Patrinos

Interviewee: Ari Patrinos. Ari Patrinos, director of the U.S. Department of Energy's sequencing effort, talks about the private genome project announcement and public funding. (DNAi Location: Genome > The project > Players > Money > Private or public funding)

I think that probably was the first thought that went through people's minds when that announcement was made, and you know, you conjure up all kinds of scenarios that a Congress which at that time may have been, was more business-friendly for example, would start questioning why would the Federal Government need to continue funding a project when here's a private company that's going to do it all.
