From the double helix to the Human Genome Project, James Watson
Description:
Interviewee: James Watson.
James Watson talks about from the double helix to the Human Genome Project.
Transcript:
It's pretty wonderful, you know, to think that your career could go from finding the double helix to, you know, seeing the whole genetic instructions of humans. It wasn't until about five years ago when we started the project, I couldn't see ahead fifteen years, you know, in a practical sense. But then suddenly two years ago, suddenly we were going to see it, see what, you know, what makes us human in a sense. Of course you know, see it, but of course we couldn't read it for, it will take a long time to see everything. But I've been very lucky in my life, to be so close, close up to very important events.

James Watson and Francis Crick solved the structure of DNA. Other scientists, like Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins, also contributed to this discovery.
