Carolyn Faughnan

Administrative Manager

I was born in Brooklyn and spent the first few years of my life on a small island in the East River. Post Typhoid Annie, North Brother Island was a small community of artists and actors, and returning war veterans. From then until now I’ve lived on Long Island. Along with working in Cold Spring Harbor, it all seems about right for a Pisces.

My work has been in the travel, cable television and publishing industries. After attending the Metropolitan School of Design, I started my own business creating and implementing designer wall finishes. One of my more interesting projects was replicating a wall finish for the lobby of the Cherry Lane Theater in Greenwich Village, in time for their 75th anniversary celebration.

Believing all living creatures deserve to share this planet in peace and harmony, I became a vegetarian almost twenty years ago. I received my Reiki Master degree about the same time, and soon will be volunteering with a re-entry program to teach Reiki to formerly incarcerated women. It’s an experience I’m looking forward to.

With a combined family of five children and eleven grandchildren, my husband and I are kept very busy. We enjoy the many sports events, performances, birthdays, and all else that goes with our large active family.

I am very proud to be part of the DNA Learning Center. The enthusiasm and dedication of the teaching staff, and the impact they have on the students, never ceases to amaze me. Administering the summer science camps affords me the opportunity to enjoy seeing all the eager young future scientists, as each year they move on to the next level. Some of our former campers have returned as interns and teachers! All of our DNA Learning Center “family” is a dedicated group that can’t be beat!
