The rape of Carrie Buck, Paul Lombardo

Description:
Interviewee: Paul Lombardo. After raping Carrie, Clarence Garland left Charlottesville rather than fulfill his promise to marry her. (DNAi Location: Chronicle > Trial of Carrie Buck > Epilogue > Carrie says she was raped)
Transcript:
Carrie Buck was chosen as the first person to be sterilized because she was labeled a moral delinquent. She had had a child, but wasn't married. In fact, in later years Carrie told me and others that she had been raped by her boyfriend, that he had promised to marry her but then had left.
