Private and public efforts to sequence the human genome, Ari Patrinos

Description:
Interviewee: Ari Patrinos. Ari Patrinos talks about private and public efforts to sequence the human genome.
Transcript:
The positive side of this challenge: we needed a little bit of a kick in the rear to get us going. I mentioned earlier the tensions that existed among the Institutions and even the countries about the details of which chromosome one does, and what are the rules, and what are even some of the trivial rules about data release and sharing, and you know, I think had we not had an external challenge we ultimately would have come together, there was no question about it, but we would have done it in a slower pace.
